Potato Cheese balls are a delicious crispy snack made with potato, cheese, herbs and spices. Potato cheese balls make for a great party snack. Here’s a simple and tasty recipe for Potato Cheese Balls:
Ingredients:
- 3 medium-sized potatoes (peeled and boiled)
- 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella works great)
- 2-3 tbsp all-purpose flour (or breadcrumbs for a crunchier coating)
- 1/4 tsp chilli powder (optional)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh coriander or parsley (optional for garnish)
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the potatoes: Peel and boil the potatoes until soft. Once done, mash them well in a bowl. Let the mashed potatoes cool down a bit.
- Add cheese and seasonings: To the mashed potatoes, add the grated cheese, flour (or breadcrumbs), chilli powder (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything until well combined.
- Shape the balls: Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into small balls (about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter). If the mixture feels too sticky, you can grease your hands lightly or add a bit more flour.
- Heat oil: Heat oil in a frying pan on medium heat. You need enough oil to submerge the balls slightly or at least cover the bottom of the pan.
- Fry the cheese balls: Gently drop the shaped balls into the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy on the outside. This usually takes about 3 to 4 minutes. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Drain the excess oil: Once fried, place the cheese balls on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
- Serve and enjoy: Garnish with fresh coriander or parsley, and serve with a dipping sauce like ketchup, mayo, or spicy chutney!
Enjoy crispy, cheesy potato balls.
