Poha-

Poha is flattened rice, the most preferred breakfast recipe in the western states of India. Its popularly known as Pohe in Maharashtra and Poha in Gujarat. This yummy recipe saves your time and gives a healthy touch to your tummy. People prefer it for breakfast, evening snacks, and even for a quick dinner. We tell you the easiest recipe, you’ll simply love it. Serve Poha with Aloo Bhujia or Sev, it’s like a cherry on top.

Poha Recipe:

Here’s a basic recipe for Poha-

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Cups Poha
  • 2 medium chopped potato
  • ½ cup Peanuts
  • 1 or 2 Green Chilli
  • Curry Leaves (optional)
  • 1/3 tablespoon Mustard seed
  • ½ Cumin Seed
  • ½ tablespoon Sugar
  • Pinch of Hing
  • 1/3 tablespoon Turmeric Powder
  • Salt according to Taste
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 2 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon grated coconut (optional)
  • Aloo Bhujia/Sev

How to make Poha

  • Take your Poha in a bowl, wash it gently, and drain the water through a strainer. Keep this Bowl aside.
  • light up the gas, heat oil in a pan, and Add peanuts, Curry leaves, mustard seeds, salt, cumin seed, green chilies, and a pinch of Hing (Asafoetida). Keep stirring for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add sugar and finely chopped onions, then fry them until the onion becomes golden brown for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add Chopped boiled potatoes, and salt (according to your taste).
  • Once the Potatoes are cooked properly, saute them on a medium flame for 1-2 min, and mix turmeric.
  • Add washed Poha and mix it well for 1-2 minutes, Cover the PAN and cook it for a minute on low flame.
  • Add lemon, chopped coriander leaves, and grated coconut (optional).
  • Mix it well and turn off the flames.

Finally, your Yummy Poha is ready for serving.
